Liverpool wrapped up their pre-season tour in Japan with a confident 3–1 win over Yokohama F. Marinos at the Nissan Stadium on July 30, 2025. Despite conceding early in the second half, the Reds produced a dominant comeback display, with several young talents stepping up to secure victory.
Yokohama opened the scoring in the 55th minute through Asahi Uenaka, but Liverpool responded swiftly. New signing Florian Wirtz netted the equaliser in the 62nd minute, marking his first goal for the club. Shortly after, 18-year-old Trey Nyoni headed home to give Liverpool the lead, before 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha sealed the result with a composed finish in the closing stages.

The game featured a number of new faces, including Hugo Ekitike, who made his debut following a recent transfer, while Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong also featured prominently. With Alisson Becker unavailable due to personal reasons, goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili started between the posts.

This victory follows earlier pre-season wins against Preston North End and Stoke City, as well as a 4–2 defeat to AC Milan in Hong Kong. Liverpool will now return to England to continue preparations for the new season, with a friendly against Athletic Club up next at Anfield on August 4, before facing Crystal Palace in the Community Shield on August 10.
