Riccardo Calafiori was forced off shortly after half-time during Arsenal’s pre-season friendly against Newcastle United in Singapore, which ended in a 3–2 win for the Gunners. The Italian defender, who started centrally in the back four, appeared to suffer a fitness issue and was substituted at the break.
He had shown attacking intent earlier in the match but couldn’t continue into the second half. Calafiori has faced several injury setbacks in his debut season at Arsenal, including knee, muscular, and groin problems that have limited his availability.

Manager Mikel Arteta had previously stressed the importance of a full pre-season to help Calafiori return to peak condition and avoid recurring injuries. His early substitution raises fresh concerns over his fitness ahead of the new campaign.
