In a match billed as the “final before the final,” Rasheedat Ajibade and Michelle Alozie delivered the decisive goals at Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca.
Ajibade put Nigeria ahead just before halftime, confidently converting a penalty following a handball by South Africa's Bambanani Mbane.
South Africa responded early in the second half when Linda Motlhalo slotted home from the spot after Osinachi Ohale was penalised for a foul, briefly levelling the contest.
With extra time looming, Alozie struck from 35 yards in stoppage time—her sublime long-range effort sealing a dramatic win for the Super Falcons.
The closing minutes included several stoppages due to injuries and fierce challenges, but Nigeria’s defense held firm through nine minutes of added time to preserve the victory.
This result not only avenges their 2022 semi-final loss to South Africa but also reinforces Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football. Unbeaten throughout the tournament, the Super Falcons will now face either Morocco or Ghana in the WAFCON final.
South Africa, meanwhile, will contest the third-place playoff.
