Fenerbahce have finalised the signing of Marco Asensio from PSG for €10 million

Fenerbahçe are on the brink of completing a high-profile move for Spanish international Marco Asensio from Paris Saint-Germain, positioning him as a central creative force in the club’s new-look squad.

Negotiations are progressing rapidly: sources report that Fenerbahçe have agreed a transfer fee of approximately €10 million, with Asensio set to earn around €9 million per year under a contract lasting until June 2028.

The Istanbul side initially proposed a loan deal but quickly pivoted to a permanent transfer of €15 million, recognizing the importance of securing the player long-term. PSG, prepared to offload Asensio as his contract nears expiration in 2026, appear receptive to the offer.

Despite mutual interest between clubs, financial terms constituted a sticking point. Asensio, who earned up to €14 million per season at PSG, reportedly desired a four-year contract, while Fenerbahçe initially offered three years and a somewhat lower salary. However, subsequent reports indicate that terms were revised, with a €9 million annual salary and contract through 2028 offering a compromise that both parties found acceptable.

Asensio brings considerable pedigree and versatility to his new club. His career includes decorated years at Real Madrid—where he secured multiple Champions League and La Liga titles—and a solid loan spell at Aston Villa, where he scored eight goals in 21 Premier League appearances, reminding Europe of his creative and scoring capabilities.

This transfer is part of a broader strategic overhaul by Fenerbahçe, aiming to reinforce key areas ahead of the 2025–26 season. The club have already secured Milan Škriniar and Jhon Durán and are targeting further reinforcements for both league and continental campaigns.
