Manchester City concluded their preseason preparations with a commanding 3–0 win over Serie B side Palermo at the Renzo Barbera Stadium in Sicily. The match marked City’s only preseason outing ahead of the 2025–26 Premier League campaign.
Erling Haaland opened the scoring in the 25th minute, finishing clinically after a well-placed pass from Rico Lewis. Tijjani Reijnders, a summer signing from AC Milan, made an immediate impact off the bench, netting twice in the second half (59′, 82′) with composed finishes following clever build-up play from Savinho and Divine Mukasa.

Despite a shaky start, including a nervy moment from new goalkeeper James Trafford, City gradually asserted control. Rayan Cherki impressed in midfield, orchestrating play and nearly adding a goal himself before being substituted at halftime.

The win secured the Anglo-Palermitan Trophy for Manchester City. Pep Guardiola utilized the match to test squad depth, making 10 changes at halftime. Reijnders’ brace showcased his attacking instincts and adaptability in midfield. City now turn their focus to their Premier League opener against Wolves on August 16.
