Ademola Lookman Misses Training as Suspension Rules Him Out of Benin Clash

Ademola Lookman will not participate in training ahead of Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Benin Republic as he is suspended for the match.

Sports journalist Pooja Media shared photos from the Super Eagles’ training session in Uyo, revealing that the Atalanta winger did not even dress for training due to his suspension. The post, captioned “#WCQ2026 #PoojaInUyo,” showed the team preparing without Lookman as they continued their build-up to the crucial encounter.

Lookman’s suspension comes after he received two yellow cards in previous qualifiers — one during the 1–1 draw with South Africa and another in the 2–1 win over Lesotho — resulting in an automatic ban for the next match.

While some reports suggested he skipped training, there is no evidence of any disciplinary issue. His absence was solely due to his suspension, which makes him ineligible to feature against Benin Republic.
