According to reports from Reuters and Ekathimerini, Benítez signed a deal running until 2027, with some outlets describing it as a two-year or two-and-a-half-year contract. The deal is reportedly worth around €4 million per season, making it the most lucrative coaching contract in Greek football history.
Benítez brings a wealth of experience to the Athens-based club, having previously managed elite sides such as Real Madrid, Chelsea, Napoli, Inter Milan, and Liverpool, where he famously led the team to the 2005 UEFA Champions League title.
Panathinaikos are currently seventh in the Greek Super League after a disappointing start to the season and struggling form in the Europa League. The club hopes Benítez’s experience and tactical acumen will help restore their dominance in domestic and European competitions.
