Gianluigi Donnarumma Wins Save of the Month Award for Stunning Stop in Manchester Derby

Gianluigi Donnarumma has been named the winner of the Coca-Cola Save of the Month award for September 2025, following his outstanding one-handed stop during Manchester City’s 3–0 victory over Manchester United.

The Italian goalkeeper reacted brilliantly to deny Bryan Mbeumo’s fierce strike, a moment widely praised by fans and pundits.

It is Donnarumma’s first Premier League Save of the Month award, and he becomes only the second City goalkeeper to receive the honour this season, after James Trafford’s success in August. The award is decided through a mix of fan voting and an expert panel’s assessment.

Other nominees for the September 2025 award included Emiliano Martínez of Aston Villa, Karl Darlow of Leeds United, Martin Dúbravka of Burnley, Dean Henderson of Crystal Palace, and Sam Johnstone of Tottenham Hotspur.

The 26-year-old shot-stopper, who also recently claimed the 2025 Yashin Trophy, continues to impress in his debut Premier League campaign as he cements his place among Europe’s top goalkeepers.
