Manchester City delivered a confident performance in Spain as they defeated Villarreal 2–0 in the UEFA Champions League group stage. The English champions controlled the game from start to finish, with goals from Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva sealing all three points.
The breakthrough came in the 17th minute when Rico Lewis found space on the right wing and sent a low cross into the area. Erling Haaland, positioned perfectly between Villarreal’s defenders, swept the ball calmly past the goalkeeper to give City an early lead. The goal marked another addition to Haaland’s impressive Champions League tally, showcasing his trademark composure and positioning.

City doubled their advantage shortly before halftime. Once again, Rico Lewis was involved, delivering a dangerous cross into the box. Bernardo Silva met the ball with a well-timed header from close range in the 40th minute, leaving the Villarreal goalkeeper rooted as the ball nestled into the net.

Villarreal tried to fight back in the second half, creating a few opportunities through Nicolas Pépé and Thomas Partey, but their efforts were either off target or denied by the post. Manchester City remained composed, maintaining control of possession and dictating the tempo until the final whistle.
