Josep Martínez, the 27-year-old second-choice goalkeeper of Inter Milan, has been involved in a tragic traffic accident in Italy. On the morning of Tuesday, 28 October 2025, his vehicle struck and killed an 81-year-old man in an electric wheelchair in the province of Como.
According to local police, the collision occurred at approximately 9:40 a.m. in Fenegrò, when the wheelchair unexpectedly veered into the roadway from a cycle path adjacent to the road. Martínez immediately stopped his car and rendered assistance; however, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene despite rapid arrival of emergency services, including an air ambulance.
The goalkeeper was uninjured but reportedly deeply shaken by the incident, and he is cooperating fully with the authorities as they investigate the circumstances. In response, Inter Milan cancelled a pre-match press conference scheduled ahead of their match against Fiorentina.
