Pep Guardiola confirmed that Rodri is back in training and could be available for the weekend’s clash between Manchester City and AFC Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola said: “I think he’ll be ready to help. I don’t know if from the beginning but hopefully he can be with us. He’s been out a few times and we know how important he is for us.”
The Spaniard has not featured in City’s last four matches, following a hamstring issue he picked up before the international break. Despite the injury, his return would be a significant boost for Manchester City given how central Rodri has been to Guardiola’s system.
For this weekend’s fixture, Bournemouth arrive in excellent form — sitting second in the Premier League after nine games — while Manchester City have won all eight previous Premier League matches against Bournemouth at the Etihad, scoring 31 goals and conceding just five.
