Renowned Nigerian rapper and social activist Folarin Falana, better known as Falz, has issued a pointed critique of the federal government’s response to recent kidnapping incidents, emphasizing the need for greater transparency and justice in security operations.
Falz’s comments come in the wake of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s announcement on Sunday, November 23, 2025, confirming the successful rescue of all 38 worshippers from the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Oke Isegun in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State. The president also disclosed that 51 out of more than 300 students abducted from a Catholic school in Niger State have been freed, crediting the efforts of security forces for these coordinated interventions in the North Central region.
In a series of posts on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Falz expressed frustration over the lack of details regarding the operations, questioning the absence of information on arrests, the fate of the abductors, or any potential ransom payments. “THIS DOES NOT CUT IT. Where are the abductors?? Were they killed? How many arrests were made???” he wrote, underscoring a broader demand for accountability. He further elaborated: “President Tinubu announced yesterday that all 38 people that were kidnapped in the Kwara Church have regained their freedom. Also that 50 out of the 300+ people kidnapped in Niger have also returned home. There was no mention of any arrests being made, no mention of whether any ransom was paid, no mention of anyone being apprehended and brought to book.”
This is not the first time Falz has publicly challenged the administration on insecurity. Earlier in the week, following the initial abductions, he had called for President Tinubu’s resignation, accusing the government of “incompetence and inaction” and highlighting the recurring pattern of violence that has claimed numerous lives across the country. His latest remarks reflect a growing sentiment among Nigerians for more comprehensive reporting on such incidents, beyond mere rescues, to include the prosecution of perpetrators and preventive measures against future attacks.
President Tinubu, in his statement, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, noting that he had canceled a trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to oversee domestic security efforts. As public discourse on Nigeria’s persistent security challenges intensifies, Falz’s voice continues to amplify calls for systemic reform and tangible action.
