Veteran Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1 or K1 De Ultimate, publicly reunited with his son, Abdulmalik, and the child’s mother, Nollywood actress Bisola Badmus, during a live performance at a high-profile event on Thursday evening.
The emotional encounter unfolded mid-performance when Badmus, accompanied by her 13-year-old son, approached the stage. Video footage widely shared across Instagram and X shows Kwam 1 pausing his set to warmly embrace Abdulmalik, marking what appears to be the first public acknowledgment of their father-son relationship in over a decade. Badmus, visibly overcome with emotion, broke down in tears as the trio shared a brief but touching moment, with the singer exchanging pleasantries and a hug with the young boy.

The reunion follows a long and publicly strained history. Badmus, 38, has previously spoken openly about raising Abdulmalik as a single mother. In 2022, during the child’s 10th birthday, she referred to Kwam 1 as a “deadbeat father.” In September 2024, while battling a brain tumour and severe financial hardship, she once again appealed to the musician for support, stating that he had privately acknowledged the child but had abandoned all paternal responsibilities. Her story touched many Nigerians, leading to widespread donations—including over ₦1.3 million raised by actor Kunle Afod—and a full scholarship for Abdulmalik’s education.

At the same event, Badmus reconnected with industry colleagues including actresses Faithia Williams, Dayo Amusa, and Kemi Korede, who showered her with cheers and financial gifts from the audience.
