Ini Edo has broken her silence over the controversy surrounding her movie "A Very Dirty Christmas", stating that the title was never meant to demean Christianity or disrespect the Christmas season. "I am a devout Christian. My faith is deeply personal to me, and it guides my values, my choices, and my life. I would never knowingly create or associate myself with any work that seeks to misrepresent, disrespect, or undermine my religion or the essence of Christmas," she said.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) had criticized the title, describing it as offensive and disrespectful to the Christian faith. CAN called for a review of the title and a public apology from Ini Edo. The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has requested the producer to modify the title, citing concerns over religious sensitivity.
Ini Edo explained that the title is metaphorical, reflecting the story's themes and realities. She appealed to fans to watch the movie and judge it for themselves, saying, "I invite everyone to go to cinemas across Nigeria to watch A Very Dirty Christmas for themselves. See the story, feel the message and judge it in its proper context".
