Jake Paul has confirmed he underwent surgery for a broken jaw after his knockout loss to Anthony Joshua on Friday night in Miami. The YouTuber-turned-boxer was knocked out in the sixth round, with Joshua dominating the fight and landing a devastating right hand that shattered Paul's jaw in two places.
Paul shared an update on social media, saying, "Surgery went well thanks for all the love and support. 2 titanium plates on each side. Some teeth removed. Have to have only liquids for 7 days so no @doghausdogs :(" He also joked about fighting Canelo Alvarez in 10 days, despite his current condition.
The 28-year-old Paul had a respectable showing, lasting six rounds against the more experienced Joshua, who weighed in at 243.4 pounds compared to Paul's 216.6 pounds. However, Joshua's power proved too much, and he knocked Paul down four times before the final blow.
Paul's jaw was broken in two places, and he had to undergo surgery to repair the damage. He'll be on a liquid diet for the next seven days and is expected to take a lengthy break from boxing.
